Οn behalf of the Communication and Media Studies department at the National and Kapodistrian University, as well as the University of the Aegean Department of Sociology, we would like to inform you about the newly developed interdisciplinary MSc on Media and Refugee/Migration Flows (https://migromedia.gr/), which offers two specializations:
(1) "News media coverage of refugee/migration flows"
(2) "Communication management of refugee/migration flows".
Taking into consideration the global situation, the lack of needed scientific work and the necessity arising from the need of news coverage of refugee/migration flows over the last decade in Greece and the Western Balkan Countries towards the countries of Central and Northern Europe, it is considered crucial to gain more in-depth knowledge at a postgraduate level.
Both specializations actively facilitate the interaction with academics from Europe and beyond, established professionals, such as journalists, reporters, public employees, and representatives of NGOs active in the field. A summer school held in Lesvos island for 3 weeks provides students with the unique opportunity to research and exchange with NGOs active in the Hotspot (RIC/Moria) via a range of workshops, seminars and events. It will offer students with personal and professional competencies and experiences required in the field of media, research and refugee/migration management.
In the MSc are accepted candidates that have acquired degrees in Communication and Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Law Studies, or other relevant academic fields, and holders of any undergraduate university degree in fields similar to the MSc. Graduates from faculties of Communication, Media and Journalism or similar in Greece and abroad are accepted by priority under the condition that they meet all other entry requirements.
