Available PhD position
The Florey Institute of Neuroscience & Mental Health (The Florey), based at The University of Melbourne, is the largest brain research centre in the southern hemisphere and one of the largest medical research institutes in Australia. Its scientific output, measured by citations and impact, places it amongst the top six neuroscience and mental health research institutes in the world.
We are looking for a highly motivated, full-time PhD candidate who is passionate about brain research. The PhD project will begin in 2016 at The Florey and will be on brain functional connectivity analysis towards characterization of epileptic brain networks using EEG-fMRI data fusion methods. All postgraduates with Bachelor Honours/Master's degree in appropriate disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, computer science, physics and biomedical engineering are encouraged to apply. The following criteria would be advantageous for the position:
Demonstrated analytical and research skills by having· peer-reviewed journal publications and strong academic credentials,
Strong· Being familiar with brain function and anatomy, · Prior research·English language knowledge (in particular, writing skills), Advanced skills·experience in neuroimaging techniques (e.g., EEG and fMRI), in MATLAB programming.
